66 Days left

66 days left until I am home for a visit! In case you didn't notice there is a countdown to the left. I'm really looking forward to it.

This weekend was nice and relaxing just like I had hoped. Saturday was a beautiful sunny day (not that common in London!), so Candace, Carmen and I decided to have a picnic at the canal that is near our apartment. We had a whole bunch of fruit and nachos. It was wonderful to relax out in the sun with some good food.

Sunday the three of us when to a 11:15am Westminster Abbey church service. The church is beautiful! From there we stopped by a Spanish Festival, but didn't go in because there was a long line and it cost money. Instead we stopped by another market for lunch.

And that was pretty much my weekend! It was wonderfully relaxing! Now I'm getting ready for a long week at work. Month end so we'll be crazy busy getting all the reports ready.

Coolest thing!

So technology is awesome! My phone now has a new add-on. In addition to getting skype each month I can now pay 15 pounds a month and get 3000 minutes of international calls. So I can call landlines and cell phones in the USA for "free" (15 pounds a month). That works out to be around $0.01 a minute! So if you wanna talk to me give my skype in number a call 763-219-1168 and then I'll call you back . . . because I can! Except you Mom. You are not allowed to call me from the cabin at 6:30am! Just because it's 12:30am your time and you're having fun doesn't mean that you need to call me!!

Other than that nothing too interesting has happened. This week was a normal work week. Tanya left about a half hour ago for Stockholm. I have no plans for the weekend. Awesome! Gives me a chance to relax and get some laundry done. Almost everything that I own is dirty!

Amsterdam

Thanks for the b-day wish Pat, Brenda and Maizlyn!!! And thanks to everyone else who wished me a good one. I'm getting old!

So I have survived Amsterdam, or should I say, Amsterdam has survived me!!! Tanya, Candace and I arrived in Amsterdam late Wednesday night. Tanya and I found a great food place (Wok to Walk) and then headed to bed. Thursday and Friday we spent our days wondering around. Checking out shops, cafes, red light district etc. Friday night 3 more Mountbattens joined us (Anna, Nadine, and Ryan). Saturday we went on Mike's Bike Tours. The tour took us through Amsterdam and then out to the countryside. We passed a windmill and stopped at a cheese and clog factory. Mmm cheese! Sunday was the Anne Frank House Museum and then we headed home. We got back to our apartments last night around 1:30am, so needless to say, I'm very tired after little sleep and a long day at work :(

I have class this Wednesday night and then no plans for the weekend. A lot of people are traveling around (stockholm & dublin) so it'll be pretty quiet. A good weekend for me to relax!

Visiting in Sept!

So this last week has been pretty uneventful. We had class Saturday and Sunday. We are officially done with units 1 & 2 and starting on unit 3 - Managing in the Global Economy. The best part about unit 3 is that the prof lets us out early! We were suppose to be in class until 5pm on saturday and 1:30pm on Sunday. We got out at 2:45pm on sat. and 12pm on sun. Awesome!

This week my boss is at the New York office, so I am left unsupervised! He calls me on occassion for a report, but I mostly just putz around. I've used some of my extra time to finish writing a stupid 2,500 word paper on the future of management (pretty much a bunch of bs!) and then I started my 2-3 page paper on outsourcing. I have also used some of the extra time to check out the profiles for the new interns coming in August. I get to choose the ones that I like and then tell Peter to interview them!

Tomorrow I am leaving for Amsterdam! Should be an exciting weekend! And my b-days on Friday, so I get to celebrate with my friends in Amsterdam. Don't worry, I'll be safe.

The most exciting part about my week was that I bought a flight home for a long weekend in September for my friend Amy's wedding on Sept 6th. I will be coming home on Thursday Sept 4th and leaving Monday the 8th. Hopefully I can see as many people as possible! Softball ladies wanna get together at J'Cos on Thursday night? My flight comes in at 5:45pm. I could head there from the airport! Liz, Shadder's and Christi(and I guess you too Tom Thumb Brian) wanna hangout on Friday night or Sunday? Amy's wedding is in St. Cloud. We could either stop by on the way there or on the way back. MJ, Marge, & Bev - lunch on Monday? Hopefully I can see as many of you as I can when I'm visiting!

Hampton Court

Today Tanya, Aaron and I went to Hampton Court. It was a short 30 minute train ride from London Waterloo. It was amazing! The palace was huge and they had great gardens and ponds. here are some google images

http://images.google.com/images?q=hampton%20court&rls=com.microsoft:*:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7SUNA&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi

We went through the Tudor kitchens and the wine cellar and then on to the state rooms. After going through the palace we headed out to the grounds and found a friendly swan in the pond. It came over to say hi to us and we started feeding it some cheese and onion potato chips. The crazy thing was that it would leap out of the water and take the chip right from our fingers. It was a little frightening at first to have a big bird come lunging at you out of the water, but we later realized that it was just going for the chip so our fingers were safe! After hanging out with the birds we headed to the hedge maze. Lots of fun. We made it out! Aaron and Tanya took all the pics. I'll get them online sometime. I do finally have some pics from London on my website. If you wanna check 'em out go to www.geocities.com/sarah_rennweg/LondonPics and click on the London link.

Circle Line Party

The last week of work went by pretty fast. Only four days, so that could be why! Not much really happened during the week.

Oh wait, there is a new bus that goes from Old Street (tube station near by apartment) to Canary Wharf (where I work). I now don't have to take two hot, crowded, and smelly tubes to work everyday. It takes a little longer, so I have to leave my apartment about 10 minutes earlier, but its not crowded at all, I don't have to transfer, and its not hot and smelly. I also get to sit on top of the double decker, in the front, and pretend that I am driving! Because of this I was able to get a refund on my year long tube pass (752.50 pounds back onto my credit card!!! awesome). Now for the bus I'll only be spending 36 pounds a month rather than 80 pounds. Hell yeah!

Saturday I went to see the Sex and the City movie. It was soooo cute! All about love :( made me miss Becker. During the previews of the movie the cutest commercial was played. I found it on YouTube. Check it out:

It made me giggle!

The new mayor of London (Boris Johnson) decided to make drinking on the tube illegal. Starting today, you can get a ticket if you have an open container on the tube. To "celebrate" this new law, the Londoners decided to have a party on the circle line!! It was CRAZY! Of course I had to go and check it out. There were a ton of drunk people crammed into all the trains on the circle line. At one point everyone started to chant, Boris is a wanker and some also sang the British national anthem. It was hilarious! Apparently 17 people got arrested (no, I am not writing this in jail!).

This weekend we had class. It was our last weekend for Units 1 & 2. I am officially done with Unit 2 (finished my paper early) and will be done with Unit 1 shortly (after I finish writing two papers :( ). Only 4 more units to go. Time is flying!
