A Grammar Lesson (I'm bored at work!)‏

Work has really slowed down because of the holiday season, so I'm a little bored!! I came across this article as I was trying to keep myself entertained at work.

Are Me and Him Ruining the Movies?

By Martha Brockenbrough

I must be getting old, because things I hear in the talkies -- oops, the movies -- are really starting to get my goat. Let's make an example out of two recent flicks: "High School Musical 3" and "Madagascar: Escape 2 [sic] Africa." An early scene in each contains the same hideous grammar error -- the use of me where I belongs.

From "Madagascar": "You and me are different, son."

From "High School Musical": "Me and my dad built this tree house."

It gives me the shrivels to hear this sort of dialogue. It's not English; it's Caveman (or "Cavemanglish," if you want to make a portmanteau out of it). Only two characters can get away with talking like that: Tarzan and Cookie Monster. Everyone else needs to know the difference between I and me.

Actually, almost everyone else needs to know this. There are exceptions in high places, though it pains me to admit it.

When Bill Clinton accepted the Democratic nomination in 1992, for example, he goofed twice, saying, "My mother was busy raising my brother and I," and "Give Al Gore and I a chance to bring America back." This is called "hypercorrection" -- he was avoiding using me to sound extra proper.

It's proof, probably unnecessary, that you can be the leader of the free world even if you don't understand how to use pronouns.

Rule No. 1:

I is the subject. Its official name is a nominative pronoun. All this really means is that it's standing in for your subject.

So, use I when the pronoun you need is working as the subject of a clause or a sentence. I built this tree house. My dad and I built this tree house.

This isn't hard to remember. If you find yourself getting confused when there are two subjects, drop one out. Everything should become clear. Even Troy Bolton probably wouldn't say, "Me built this tree house."

Other pronouns can stand in for your subject, too. They are you, he and she, we, and they. So, you'd say, "He and Troy built the tree house," not "Him and Troy built the tree house."

Rule No. 2:

Me is the object. Its fancy name is an objective pronoun. It means it's standing in for your object.

So, use me when your pronoun works as an object in the sentence or clause. A pronoun can be the object in two ways:

• It can be the object of a verb. For example: The sushi (your subject) made (your verb) me (your object) sick. The movie gave Monica and me a fright.

• It can be the object of a preposition. For example: She sent the letter to (a preposition) me.

Likewise, use you, him, her, us and them to stand in for your objects.

There. That's it. Can you believe people get this wrong so often? And one last thing. That old tar pit -- it is I vs. it is me -- can be crossed off your list of things to worry about. Either one is fine, though the latter is best for informal contexts.

Switzerland, France & Germany

This past weekend I went to Basel, Switzerland for the Christmas Markets. It was a great trip! We stayed in Switzerland but since Basel is right on the border of France and Germany, we also visited those countries. On Saturday we went to Colmar, France to test out their Christmas Market. Colmar was a really cute medevial town and the markets were nice. However, the did not have gluhwein mugs (rather styrofoam cups), so I was a little dissapointed. It would have been cool to have 3 different mugs from 3 different countries. But the lack of a mug didn't stop me from drinking gluhwein and meandering through the Christmas stalls.

Saturday night we wandered around Basel and checked out their Christmas Market at night.

Sunday we woke up, checked out of the hostel and then headed to Freiburg, Germany. We drank some Gluhwein (and got a few mugs) and meandered around their Christmas Market. It was great! It even snowed a bit! After heading back to Basel we had some cheese fondue and then made our last stop at the Basel Christmas Market where we "cause" drank for some Basel Christmas Market mugs! It was challenging because the stalls essentially had the same mugs, but there were only a few mugs that had "2008" on them. We all definitely wanted one of those!

It was a nice and relaxing weekend. We got home late on Sunday and now I'm back at work :(

But I only have 3 1/2 more days left of work before heading home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't wait to be home. Although I did see that the temperates are only in the single digits. Would appreciate a little heat up for when I'm home! The temperate in London has been in the 40s so don't know if I can handle below freezing again!!

Look forward to seeing as many of you as possible during the 2 weeks that I am home!

Christmas Markets in Munich & Salzburg

I went to Munich this last weekend with Aaron, Amanda and Matt. It was great! I love Christmas Markets! They're soooo relaxing. All you have to do is wander around the little craft stands and drink Gluhwein. I added another 5 or so cups to my gluhwein collection! Looks like we'll have new mugs to drink out of at the gluhwein party on Dec. 20th!

We also stopped by Salzburg while we were there. Such a wonderful city! We wandered around their Christmas Markets (they had more stands than Munich!) and then walked up to the Fortress and looked at some very pretty views at sunset. It was really nice. The Krampus were also out in Salzburg (see picture). For those of you who don't remember what the Krampus are from my study abroad emails, they are the creatures that walk around with Saint Nicholas to decide if the kids have been naughty or nice. See in the USA the naughty kids get a lump of coal. However, in Austria they get chased and whipped by these creatures. Pretty scary! I bet the Austrian kids are better than the kids in the USA. If I had to face that creature at Christmas for being naughty rather than a lump of coal, I'd be good. Of course, I never had to worry about that. I was and still am, an angel!!!!! :)
The tradion however, has changed slightly. When I was studying abroad in Salzburg the Krampus were allowed to run around the city chasing people and whipping them. This year they were escorted through the city and not allowed to chase anyone. On one hand it was nice because its not as scary, but on the other hand that tradition was kind of fun.
I got home late on Monday night and am now back at work :( Booo. I'm getting sick of work! I need to win the lottery real soon so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life working!
But the good news is that I only have 14 more days left of work until I go home for Christmas. Then after Christmas I only have 10 more weeks at BGC Partners. Time is flying!

Some bad news - I just found out that our professor from hell (see unit 4 blog entries) is now teaching our last unit. Ahhhh. At least we only have 2 weekends and 2 weekdays worth of classes with him. Jan 30th (the last day of the last unit) may not come soon enough!

Mensa Questionnaire

I thought it would be kind of fun if we worked on this Mensa Questionnaire together! So you can leave a comment if you know the answer to any and I will update the blog on occasion with the answers that we get!

You have to work out what the letters mean. See No 0 as an example.

According to MENSA, if you get 19 + of these, you are a "genius".

Only 2 MENSA members achieved full marks.

I've answered a few, but don't want to answer them all!

BGC

So today the people are BGC (at least the back office people) were told that there will not be any bonuses being paid in December, but rather they will receive their bonuses some time during the 1st Qtr of 2009. Needless to say, Brokerage Receivables, where I work, is not a happy place. There is also a rumor going around that there will be no pay raises for this year. The employees are very frustrated. We see the money coming in and wonder where it all goes. It makes you wonder what is really going on in the Front office. Our department Christmas party also got cancelled and I'm guessing that the BGC Christmas party will also be cancelled, but I haven't heard news about that yet. I feel luck that I am not a permanent employee so this doesn't really affect me too much. Only have 4 months left, so that's good. All I have to worry about is trying to find a job when I get home :( Hopefully the economy will turn around by September 2009.

MJ and Anne are gone :(

Well MJ and Anne left me :( I told them that they could stay until I went home for Christmas, but surprisingly they still hopped on their flight on Sunday morning. Boo :( I believe that they had a good time. They spent their days wandering around London (visiting street markets a lot) and then they were always home cooking dinner by the time I got back from work around 6:30pm. It was great!

While they were here we also taught my roommates Jayanth (the pic with me also in it) and Avinash (this pic w/out me) how to play shithead. They were welcomed to the game by having the honor of wearing the shithead hat that MJ and Anne found while out and about.

But now they've left me and I'm all alone :(

I wasn't able to take them to the airport on Sunday because I had class. The final class for Unit 5. Only 1 more unit and 3 more weekends of class to go. Its crazy! We have now started working on our final business plan. Its going all right. My group sucks, but hopefully we can work through it. The presentation is on Jan. 30th, so we just have to make it until then. Hopefully I do!

This Saturday morning I'm heading to Munich for the Christmas markets. Let me tell you . . I am VERY EXCITED! I love Christmas Markets and its going to be a good break from work (I have Monday off), school and London. I will collect some glasses for people to use on Gluhwein night (Dec. 20th) when I'm home! 24 days!

1 Minute for Breast Cancer

A favour to ask, it only takes a minute....

The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on 'donating a mammogram' for free (pink window in the middle). This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising.

Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know. http://www.thebreastcancersite.com/

Thoughts for the day

Things don't go wrong and break your heart so you can become bitter and give up. They happen to break you down and build you up so you can be all that you were intended to be.

Whine less, Breathe more
Talk less, Say more
Hate less, Love more
And all good things are yours

If you say you can't, you won't
If you say you quit, you lose
If you say you will try, you just might win
But only you have the power to choose.

Weekend in Wales

MJ and Anne arrived safely on Wednesday and on Thursday and Friday while I was at work they did a Hop on Hop off bus tour of London and a Thames River cruise.

During the weekend MJ, Anne and I rented a car and drove out to Wales. The trip was good, minus all the driving/following directions part. That was VERY stressful for all. They don't really do a good job with labelling the streets and stuff. After picking up the car we headed out of London and then stopped at Windsor Castle. We toured there and then hopped back on the M4 for Cardiff. We got to Cardiff around 3:30pm and since the Castle closed at 4pm we decided to stop somewhere for a beer to de-stress! 4 rounds later we were looking for something to eat. We found Wagamama's (yummy Japanese noodle place) and it was wonderful! I'm craving it right now actually!! We got to bed pretty early on Saturday night and slept in until 10am! Crazy. We then headed to Cardiff Castle and took a really nice tour. Then we headed to Bath. MJ and Anne went through the Roman Baths and I went to the Disney Store (I had been to Bath a couple of weeks ago). At the Disney store I found some Donald Duck mugs for MJ and then headed to Starbucks to wait for their tour of the Roman Baths to end. We left Bath around 5:30pm and should have been back to the apartment around 7:30pm; however, there was an accident and it took us about 1 - 1 1/2 hours to drive about 10 miles. It was not fun. But all in all it was still a good weekend.

MJ and Anne brought the car back on Monday. They originally were going to take a day trip to Stonehenge, but after all the stress of driving through London this weekend, they decided that Stonehenge really isn't that cool!

Yesterday was back to work for me :( MJ and Anne spent the day walking around MJ's old haunts. Not sure what they're doing today. I just know that it was MJ's day to plan. She lost at Rock, Paper, Scissors!!

MJ's Coming!!

This weekend was pretty boring. I had class the whole weekend and class on Saturday was long and boring! At least Sunday we got out early! Only were in class 10am-12pm! After class on Sunday Tanya and I and some others went to watch a rugby game and then headed to the gym (Tone Zone Women's Health Magazine, very exciting!). If you do want to do some really good and challenging workouts I would suggest going to the Women's Health Magazine website and downloading them to your Ipod or printing them out. They're great! Tanya and I try to do 2 workouts a week.

Probably won't be able to workout much in the next two weeks because MJ and Anne are coming! Can't wait. They'll be here on Wednesday and are here until November 23rd. I believe our plans for the weekend are to drive to Cardiff, Wales. We'll see. I'm sure MJ will be willing to do a blog entry! Change it up a bit. Sure you're getting sick of hearing from me!

Before MJ comes 6 of us are going to the show Fat Pig. Its a comedy show and it looks pretty good. I'll let ya know.

Pumpkins

Happy Halloween! This last week I had the joy of introducing pumpkin carving to my roommates. Jayanth, Avinash and Manjeri had never carved a pumpkin before. Avinash didn't seem to find it that interesting; however, Manjeri decided that she had so much fun doing it that she was going to do it next year when she's back in India!
Lets see, other than carving pumpkins I also got a free steak dinner on Wednesday night. Deutsche Bank (where Tanya works) had a free steak dinner at a local restaurant. I was able to go and pretend that I worked for DB. It was great! There were so many other Mountbattens there. We interns really know how to take advantage of free food!
This week I have an election party to go to on Tuesday and a group meeting on Wednesday (we have a presentation on our market research for our business plan). Nothing too special!
On a more serious note . . Please pray for my friend Kelly's boyfriend Dustin who fell off a roof recently and is in critical condition.
Have a good week!

Australian aircraft cabin announcements

Australian airline attendants make an effort to make the in-flight 'safety lecture' and their other announcements a bit more entertaining. Here are some real examples that have been heard or reported:

On an Air NZ Flight with a very 'senior' flight attendant crew, the Pilot said, 'Ladies and gentlemen, we've reached cruising altitude and will be turning down the cabin lights. This is for your comfort and to enhance the appearance of your flight attendants.'

On landing the hostess said, 'Please be sure to take all your belongings. If you're going to leave anything, please make sure it's something we'd like to have.'

'There may be 50 ways to leave your lover, but there are only 4 ways to leave the aircraft.'

As the plane landed and was coming to a stop at Auckland , a lone Voice came over the loudspeaker: 'Whoa, big fella. WHOA!'

After a particularly rough landing during thunderstorms in Adelaide, a flight attendant on a Qantas flight announced, 'Please take care when opening the overhead compartments because, after a landing like that, sure as f*** everything has shifted.'

From a Qantas employee: 'Welcome aboard Qantas Flight X to Y to operate your seat belt, insert the metal tab into the buckle, and pull tight. It works just like every other seat belt; and, if you don't know how to operate one, you probably shouldn't be out in public un-supervised.'

'In the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure, masks will descend from the ceiling. Stop screaming, grab the mask, and pull it over your face. If you have a small child travelling with you, secure your mask before assisting with theirs. If you are travelling with more than one small child, pick your favourite.

'Weather at our destination is 32 degrees with some broken clouds, but we'll try to have them fixed before we arrive. Thank you, and remember, nobody loves you, or your money, more than Qantas Airlines.'

'Your seat cushions can be used for flotation; and in the event of an emergency water landing, please paddle to shore and take them with our compliments.'

Heard on Qantas Airlines just after a very hard landing in Hobart . The flight attendant came on the intercom and said, 'That was quite bump and I know what you are all thinking. I'm here to tell you it wasn't the airline's fault, it wasn't the pilot's fault, it wasn't the flight attendant's fault... it was the asphalt!'

Another flight attendant's comment on a less than perfect landing: 'We ask you to please remain seated as Captain Kangaroo bounces us to the terminal.'

An airline pilot wrote that on this particular flight he had hammered his ship into the runway really hard. The airline had a policy which required the first officer to stand at the door while the passengers exited, smile, and give them a 'Thanks for flying United. 'He said that, in light of his bad landing, he had a hard time looking the passengers in the eye, thinking that someone would have a smart comment. Finally everyone had got off except for an old lady walking with a cane. She said, 'Sonny, mind if I ask you a question?' 'Why no Ma'am,' said the pilot. 'What is it?'
The little old lady said, 'Did we land or were we shot down?'

After a real crusher of a landing in Sydney , the Flight Attendant came on with, 'Ladies and Gentlemen, please remain in your seats until Captain Crash and the Crew have brought the aircraft to a screeching halt against the gate. And, once the tire smoke has cleared and the warning bells are silenced, we'll open the door and you can pick your way through the wreckage to the terminal.'

Part of a flight attendant's arrival announcement: 'We'd like to thank you folks for flying with us today. And, the next time you get the insane urge to go blasting through the skies in a pressurised metal tube, we hope you'll think of Qantas.'

A plane was taking off from Mascot Airport . After it reached a comfortable cruising altitude, the captain made an announcement over the intercom, 'Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. Welcome to Flight Number XYZ, non-stop from Sydney to Auckland . The weather ahead is good and, therefore, we should have smooth and uneventful flight. Now sit back and relax - ARGHHH! OH, MY GOD!' Silence followed and after a few minutes, the captain came back on the intercom and said, 'Ladies and Gentlemen, I am so sorry if I scared you earlier, but, while I was talking, the flight attendant brought me a cup of coffee and spilled the hot coffee in my lap. You should see the front of my pants!'
A passenger in Economy said, 'That's nothing. He should see the back of mine!'

Unit 5

So our 2nd to last unit started here in London. We had class on Saturday and Sunday. The unit is Entrepreneurship. We were split into 3 groups of 7 and our task was to think of a business plan. Our group actually thought of a really good one. I might have to try to convince one or two of them to partner up with me and actually do it!! We'll see how it works.

Other than class its just been working and going to the gym. Tanya and I found some really good workouts that you can download onto your ipod from womens health magazine. They're awesome and not easy in the least! Neither of us could walk most of the week because our muscles were angry with us, but a good angry!

This week is another normal week, but the weekend is abnormal. I have NOTHING to do!!!!!!! I'm soooo excited. I can sleep late, read, go to the gym and maybe even do some shopping (we get paid on Friday, Yay!)

Hope everyone has a good Halloween. Oh yeah, I do have a Halloween party on Thursday. I think Tanya and I are both going to be cats. Its cheap and easy and we both have black clothes already!

MN Kicks Ass!

CNN's Top 100 Places to Live in the USA http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bplive/2008/top100/index.html

#1
Plymouth, MN

Plymouth's numerous lakes are a magnet for boaters, water skiers and fishermen.
Top 100 rank: 1
Population: 70,100
Topnotch schools, good jobs, affordable housing, low crime, an active outdoor culture - yep, they're pretty much all here. Plymouth could have become just another Twin Cities suburb, but more than 50,000 jobs keep residents working there.
Home prices are within reason: The typical three-bedroom, two-bath house goes for $350,000. The city's main school district is ranked among the top three in the state, and for culture, Plymouth's open-air amphitheater, the Hilde Performance Center, hosts numerous summer concerts. Residents are a quick drive from the Mall of America, the nation's biggest mall.
And did we mention the outdoors? Plymouth boasts more than half a dozen sizable bodies of water. Of course, this being Minnesota, winter can be brutal: January's average low temperature is about 13°F. But when the mercury plummets, the locals get busy. In February the city hosts a Fire & Ice Festival that includes mini-golf, bowling and basketball - all right on the ice.

#41
Maple Grove, MN

Top 100 rank: 41
Population: 60,500
This northwest suburb of the Twin Cities sits on the edge of a rural area yet is still relatively close to urban life. Residents love the Arbor Lakes area, referred to by community development director Jake Edwards as "a city within a city."
The walkable district is home to lots of retail, service and office buildings. Several sizeable lakes provide fishing and boating, and residents flock to midsummer events like Maple Grove Days as well as frequent farmers

Praise the Lord

Unit 4 is finally over!! I had a 10 minute presentation today and then it was over with! It's a wonderful feeling. It was such an intense course. Now I have a two week break without any classes. Very exciting!

Thats about all that is exciting right now! Nothing else really happened this last week. Just worked and worked on my PowerPoint for the presentation. Now I'm going to read a bit (for enjoyment rather than class!) and then head to bed early because I am exhausted!

Cheers!

So, for those of you who have seen the movie In Bruge, you will know where I was last weekend. For those of you who haven't, you should really go and rent it!!

Anyways, I took the Eurostar train to Belgium this last weekend. The Eurostar train is very interesting. I am use to the Austria trains where you just run to the trainstation and hop on the train. Unfortunately, this is not the case with the Eurostar. You have to checkin, go through security and passport control, then you have to wait around until you can board. It wasn't as relaxing as I had anticipated. But oh well, it got us to Bruge in one piece!

Bruge is known as the Venice of the north. It's a pretty small city that has a bunch of canals. On Saturday we walked around the city, took a canal cruise (in French though!) and placed our hands on the blood of Jesus (there is a vial in one of the churches). Then we rested at the hostel bar and enjoyed some Belgian beer. Mmm mmm good!! I tried Brugges Zot, Jeffe, and Jupiler. They were all wonderful! Now it's hard to say what's better, German beer or Belgian beer!!

Sunday we woke up and it was raining :( booo. We headed out anyways. We climbed up the 366 steps (I only counted 340!) to the top of the bell town and headed to the chocolate museum. We actaully didn't end up going into the chocolate museum, rather we went to the Brugges Zot brewery and took a tour there! I think it was a better choice!! Oh and we also got some Belgian Waffles. They are soooooo yummy!

And that was about all of my weekend. It was pretty laid back. Had a paper due today and Sunday I have a 10 minute presentation and then another paper due and then I am done with unit 4 (the most intense class so far). Can't wait!!

Bye Bye Mom & Dad

So mom and dad flew out on Saturday :( Throughout the week they recovered from Oktoberfest, saw the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, took a hop on hop off bus tour and a river cruise. We also went and saw the show "Jersey Boys". It was a wonderful show about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. There were some really great songs in it!! By the end of the week dad was sick and tired of walking and mom was insisting that she had to come back because she hadn't seen everything!!

As mom and dad were flying out on Saturday it was back to class for me. We have 3 more class periods of unit 4 and I couldn't be happier! This unit is pretty intense. We had a paper due last Friday, another one due this Friday and a 10 minute presentation on Saturday October 11th. I will definitely be happy in about 2 weeks when this unit is over and done with!

This Wednesday we have class and we also having a briefing about Thailand. We are going to be given the handbook and all the information about our dissertation. I am very happy about that!! I like knowing what's coming and being able to plan ahead. We will also have the set dates for when the Thailand semester starts and when it ends. Then all I have to do is buy all the flights. Yikes! That's going to be a handful!

This weekend is another trip. Aaron, his girlfriend Amanda and I are heading to Belgium to check out Bruge and Brussels. Should be good. We get to take the Eurostar train rather than fly! I'm really looking forward to that. Getting a little sick of traveling to the airport, going through check in and security and then jumping on a plane, just to do it again in a few days. The train will be a nice little break and we get to go through the chunnnel (tunnel under the channel). Haven't done that yet!

Salzburg, Oktoberfest, and some London Pics

I've added a new album to my shutterfly page.

http://sarahkeepingitmoving.shutterfly.com

It has some Salzburg, Oktoberfest and London pictures. I will be adding more to it after I get some pics from Tanya, Candace, and Teresa and I will add the rest of my parent's London pics.

Millers - 1 . . . Oktoberfest - 0

And here is mom:

I thought Denny and I were on vacation....?????! We left Mpls at 10:15pm and slept very well on the 8 hour or so plane ride to London. We arrived at noon on Thursday..followed Sarah's instructions for catching the tube(s) and walked to her apartment. Then we called Sarah to let her know we arrived safely (I think she was surprised). Denny and I went for a walk to pass some time until Sarah arrived home from work. We stayed up until 11pm talking and putting a few pieces in a very hard puzzle. Next is where the 'I thought we were on vacation' plays a part ---- We got up at 3am...3AM!!!!!! and took the taxi to the airport to catch the 6:30am flight to Salzburg (well Denny & I got up at 3am ...the others (Sarah, and friends---Tanya & Mike) slept until 3:20 because their alarm did not go off!!-kids!!--boy did they move fast to make the 3:30 taxi). We were joined in the taxi by two more friends of Sarah's (Candace and Teresa). After arriving in Salzburg (my favorite place, by the way) we checked out the action until we could get into the hostel. Luckily we happened upon a festival and got a free beer (now that's hospitality!). What a way to pass the time :-). Later, Denny, Sarah and I took a nap while the other 4 went on the 'Sound of Music' tour (we took the tour the last time we were in Salzburg). That evening we toured Salzburg some more (had to pay for beer this time), ate and then 'hit the hay' because we had to get up at 4:45am ...4:45AM! (another 'I thought we were on vacation' moment) to catch the bus to the train station to catch a 6:07am train to Munich and the Oktoberfest (Teresa had been given a tip to arrive at a beer hall by 8am to stake claim on a table...that's why we had to leave so early...we weren't taking any chances!). We arrived in Munich relaxed, after napping on the train, and found the Oktoberfest location by following all of the lederhosen. When we arrived the beer halls were not yet opened, however great crowds were gathering outside each of the beer halls doors. We just chose a beer hall and waited ... but not long .... soon the doors were opened and everyone piled in! It was a mad house, the seven of us got seperated but soon we were all on the same table! Getting a table is not an easy task as 1 person will save a huge table for a group and what you thought was a choice of a table isn't really a good choice because the 'other' person kicks you off! We ended up at a table in the back that was reserved after 4:30pm (we thought it was a safe bet that by 4:30pm we might be on our way home). Besides, all of the other tables were taken!!! We (along with the locals around us) passed the time by playing cards and just 'chilling'. At about noon everyone else started cheering and we could hear a band playing. Some doors opened up and a parade came into the hall. What a hoot....the parade made it's way around the beer hall and ended up on a stage. A speech was made (beer landlord?) and some hoopla 'stuff' and soon the beer started flowing! We had a beer...or two...or three...or four (the jury is still out) and had a great time singing and doing what beer drinking people do (all for the cause of mixing in with the locals :-) ) Just as the table sign said...at 4:30 we had to leave...but that was OK....we played on the bumper cars and went down a giant slide etc and then headed back to the train station. Must I say...it was a quiet ride for some of the group on the train ride back to Salzburg. BUT we did make it back in one piece! Then we went right to bed...go figure! Sunday, we slept in (finally!) did more 'touristy' stuff and left Salzburg at 9pm to head back to London. We were all tired by time we got back to the apartment (midnight) so went right to bed. Today, Denny, Sarah & I went to Buckingham Palace (the queen wasn't home - guess she forgot we were coming - then again I didn't tell her the exact day we would be there) and the Tower of London (Scarey), ate some fish and chips (yum) and walked and walked. Had a great day. Tomorrow Denny & I will be taking a bus tour of all of the highlights of London. Denny & I will be on our own for taking the tube(s) to get to the starting destination. I only hope that by the end of the day we will actually have taken the bus tour and did not spend our entire day just riding the tube(s)! But then again...that would be fun too!

Josh Hartnett!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So this week has been a little crazy!

Since the collapse of Lehman Brothers on Sunday, work has been completely chaotic. Report after report has been requested regarding Lehman's revenue and debt. And through this I have realized that our information systems are crap! It is WAY too hard to get reliable data. Which is shitty when trying to get a Lehman's report to Upper Management, but it is good because it gives me lots to talk about for my next paper on managing information systems and how our company uses them. I can now say that the company I work for uses them very poorly!

But away from work now . . . .

Monday night I went to the show Rainman. Josh Hartnett and Adam Godley were the stars. Josh played Tom Cruise's character and Adam played Dustin Hoffman's character. The show was good, but the best part about it was that we (Tanya, Cecile, Aaron and I) got Josh's autograph afterwards. We waited by the stage door with lots of other screaming girls (no one was actually screaming, but it's more fun to say that!). I was jammed up right in the front row center. It was awesome. He is very good looking (but not as good looking as my lovely boyfriend Becker!!). And when he was handing back my ticket with his autograph he looked straight into my eyes! Dreamy!

Tuesday night I went to Brick Lane (street near Liverpool Station that has tons of Indian restaurants). I went there with 8 other interns. The best part about Brick Lane is that you get to haggle with the doormen for the price of your meal. The restaurant that we ended up eating at gave us a free round of drinks and 30% off our bill. So the total bill for 9 of us ended up being £70 (only about £8 per person). An unheard of amount for drinks, appetizers, and main meal anywhere in London! It was very scrumptious! I had chicken malayan, which is chicken and pineapples in a creamy sauce. Mmm mmm good!

In other news, mom and dad are coming tomorrow (with my newly fixed computer! excited). Their plane lands at 12:15pm. I am unable to take the day off in order to go and get them. I have given mom extensive details on how to get to my flat from the airport. Hopefully they make it!!! I'm looking forward to seeing them at my flat when I get home from work on Thursday night.

Their initial time in London will be unfortunately short. Our flight takes off for Salzburg at 6:30am (ewwww) on Friday morning. Mom, dad, and I have already been to Salzburg, so while our other four travel partners (Candace, Tanya, Mike, and Teresa) are touring around, we'll probably either be at the bar or napping!! Saturday will be Oktoberfest and then we'll be heading back to London on Sunday. I'm sure we'll have a wonderful time! Maybe I'll even let mom be a celebrity blogger on my blog to talk about her time in Salzburg, London, and at Oktoberfest. We'll see if she's nice to me!

A Royal Visit

So this last weekend at home was a success (maybe too much of a success because I was pretty sad when I got back to work in London).

My flight flew into Minnesota on Thursday night at 5:30pm. I flew during the day and was unable to sleep on the plane ride (watched 3 movies: Batman Begins, Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, and Cars). Right from the airport I went to J'Cos to hangout with the Softball ladies. It was a good time. It was great to see them again. Hopefully they're not too upset that I will not be able to play softball again next year! But I'll be there in 2010! Around 11pm it was off to bed for me. I had been up since 7am London time, which is 1am Minnesota time. So I had been up for almost a day and needless to say, I was tired.

Friday was a much needed haircut and then Mom cooked a lovely dinner of roast beef and Mashed Potatoes. Oh and I also had Chipotle for lunch!! Mmm mmm good! I missed food with flavor! Saturday was Amy and Kyle's wedding. It was beautiful! We danced the night away and I was able to see Kari Dykhoff (a CSB hockey player that I hadn't seen in a long time!). The next morning we went to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch. 6 parmesan garlic wings with buffalo chips and cheddar and southwestern ranch sauce! Wonderful! After lunch we headed to Liz and Shadder's for a get together. It was great to see all the cousins and Tom Thumb Brian again! And Liz made some yummy pizzas!

Monday was my last day at home and the only day that I did not have a ton planned. I woke up late (10am, which was pretty good considering I woke up at 4:30am on Saturday morning) and then headed to Arby's for lunch for a scrumptious roast beef and cheddar sandwich and potato cakes!! Then headed to Champps (got a real big and juicy burger!) where I met MJ, Bev, Tim, Marge, Tom, and Kat. Then it was off to the airport.

Talk about a quick and crazy vacation. At least when I come home for Christmas it will be for 2 weeks rather than 4 days!

So now it's back to work. Wednesday (my first day back) was overly busy. I had to fix a bunch of things and get the month end pack ready in a day. I stayed until a little after 6pm, but probably could have stayed 2-3 more hours. There was that much that still needed to be done, but I figured it could all wait until today.

And it could! Everything got finished today and BGC/Cantor Fitzgerald also had it's Charity day event. BGC/Cantor Fitzgerald use to have it's headquarters in New York in one of the twin towers. However, on September 11, 2001 the planes crashed into the buildings and BGC/Cantor Fitzgerald lost all of their New York employees. Now the headquarters are in the building where I am currently working. For the last 4 years, they have had a charity day every September 11th. All of the brokerage made and salaries for the day are given to charity. Apparently last year they raised around $12 million. Hopefully this year we do as well!

What's exciting about charity day is that there are a bunch of celebrities hanging around. Prince Charles, Kevin Spacey, Jerry Hall and Mark Williams (Arthur Weasely from Harry Potter) walked by my office. Some of my co-workers actually got to shake Prince Charles' hand and talk to him. Crazy! Of course most of the celebrities were British so I had to google most of them! I don't know the British Celebrities and Sports Personalities. Should have been in BGC New York, probably would have known more people there!!

Well anyways. Being home was great and now I'm already missing it :( 3 1/2 months until I'll be home for Christmas! And those 3 1/2 months are going to be very busy. I have every weekend but 1 planned! I have classes every other weekend and then I am traveling to Brussels, Munich, and Colmar France. MJ is also coming to visit one of those weekends. So it should go by pretty fast!

The Day I Raced the World

So the 10K race last night kicked a**. It was awesome!! I was able to get into a zone and I finished in 1:02'21'' You can check out my results at the website below!

http://nikeplus.nike.com/nikeplus/humanrace/leaderboard.jsp

Just type in my name (Sarah Miller - in case you forgot!) and pick the London Sarah Miller (The Austin Sarah Miller beat me by about 4 minutes. Damn, if I would have known I would have run faster!!). It then shows a graph of my speed and my place in the race. I think there were about 472,422 runners and I was 103,151 overall. Not too horrible!

It was a very exciting race. We got to Wembley stadium around 5pm. The stadium is awesome. It's big and has an open roof. It got me very excited for watching Twins games in our soon to be coming open air stadium! There was a concert before the race (Pendulum and Moby) and then the race was on. The atmosphere was great! Tanya and I were in the 4th wave (the slow runners) and we exited the stadium around 8:30pm. It was raining (of course it's London!) for about 20 minutes while we were in the stadium, so by the time that we started the race we were thoroughly soaked, but it didn't stop us! It stopped raining shortly after the race started. The race was on and Tanya and I proceeded to kick it's a**. We both felt wonderful afterwards and I may just have to sign up for more races! Weird, I didn't even know that I enjoyed running!!

In further exciting news, I will be home in 3 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Off to the races

So in about 3 hours I will be running the Nike Human 10K race. Little scared! I've never ran a 10K before. And I didn’t train as much as I should have! Oh well. As long as I run the whole thing I’ll be happy. So wish me luck!

In other news, I can’t believe I’ll be home in 3 days and 8 hours!!!! It’s soooooo exciting! I’m sure I’ll see quite a few of you. Can’t wait!

New way to share pictures

I have found a new way to share pictures. I have created a site with shutterfly.com.

The address is: http://sarahkeepingitmoving.shutterfly.com/

I'll actually get some new pics up there soon!

Sad News - Good News

So some sad news . . . . . I will not be able to stalker the actors from the Harry Potter movie. As some of you many know, they have postponed the release of the sixth Harry Potter film. Rather than being released this November (while I'm in London) it is going to be released next July (while I'm in Thailand). Boooooooo. I'll have to find some other way to stalk them!

But some good news . . . . I now have high speed Internet at my apartment. This weekend was moving weekend and we got two new roommates (Avinash and Jayanth). They brought a high speed Internet service with them. And it's AWESOME!! This means that I can get pics online quicker!

16 Days to go!

16 days to go until I'm home for my visit and Amy and Kyle's Wedding!! Very exciting!

This weekend was pretty low key. Actually this last week was filled with quite a bit of drinking and that is why the weekend was so low key!! Wednesday night was another March interns b-day so we had to head out to a pub near our apartment. Thursday night was Christy's leave drinks. Christy is the September intern that I have been working with for the past 4 months. Her last day is tomorrow (August 19th) and then she will be going on a two week cruise to Spain, Portugal and Italy with her mom before heading back home to the USA. Once she's back home she will start working for BGC in New York, so I will still be able to harass her! So Thursday night we drank for her! Friday night Tanya, Eleni (Tanya's friend who's visiting) and I found a cheap place to drink near the Mountbatten office and pretty near our apartment. £2 pints all night long! It's hard to beat that!

So since I drank more this last week then I have the last month, I decided to take it easy for the rest of the weekend (And I'm VERY low on cash and we don't get paid until Aug. 28th).

We also found out our new room situation for the next sixth months. So the previous interns were able to pick the three people that they wanted to live with and they got their requests. However, Mountbatten decided that they were not going to make anyone happy this time around. We were allowed to make our requests but they were mostly ignored. Tanya and I requested to room together and then share a flat with Candace and Teresa (we have 2 bedroom apartments for 4 people). Mountbatten decided that they were going to let Tanya and me room together and stay in our apartment; however, they put Candace and Teresa in the apartment next to us with Seamus and Todd. We are now going to be living with 2 Indian males, Avinash and Jayanth. And the funny thing that we found out over the weekend, was that Seamus and Todd actually requested to live with Avinash and Jayanth. So rather than letting us room together, they just put all of us next to the people that we wanted to live with. So it probably took more effort on their part to find two apartments next to each other!! I don't get Mountbatten sometimes! We were planning on switching everyone without telling Mountbatten, but 1 of the 8 wasn't comfortable with doing it. So I guess we'll see how it goes. I was hoping to live with people that I already knew for the last six months, but looks like that's not going to happen. Oh well, Tanya said that Avinash come to talk to her today at work (they both work at Deutsche Bank) and that he seemed nice. So that's good. I feel a little better now.

So Avinash and Jayanth will be moving into our apartment Saturday after 5pm. I am kind of excited that I don't have to move all of my stuff into another apartment though!!

I have a pretty busy week ahead. Tuesday and Wednesday I will be at the new interns orientation. I volunteered to help out with the orientation and I will be doing a presentation about cell phones. Very exciting!! Then Thursday I go back to work again and Thursday night is Emil's (another September intern's) leaving drinks. Then Friday is plain old work! However, I am looking forward to a four day work week next week!!! We have a bank holiday on Monday! Very exciting. Then the week after I have a 3 day work week and then I'll be home!!!!

Hope everyone is doing well and I look forward to seeing a lot of you in a couple of weeks!!

Kew Gardens and Rain, Rain, Rain

Happy Be-lated Harvest Fest!!

Last Friday Aaron, Max, Sarah and I headed to Earl's Court for the Great British Beer Festival! It was fun! You bought a cup for a 3 pound deposit (I kept mine because it's a great souvenir), then you head to the different booths to try all the different beers. Aaron and I started out with a German weiss hefetrub. It was wonderfully delicious! Then we tried some cider, British beer, polish beer, and some others. It was a good night!!

After a nice night of beer, Aaron and I headed out to Kew Palace. A garden and palace southwest of London. The Palace was nice. It was just a little one compared to all the others around. The gardens were much more interesting. There was a ton to do there. They had a bunch of green houses with tropical plants, water plants, and others. There was also a tree top walk, which we didn’t get to go on because it started to rain and got cold :( I'll have to make it back there on a nicer day.

Saturday night we headed to the movie theater to see the Mummy 3. It was an ok movie. Nothing too terribly interesting. But I guess the last movie I saw was the Dark Knight which was amazing, so I might be being a little unfair to the Mummy 3. Oh well!

Sunday I spent the day lounging around trying to fix my computer. It got a virus :( I wasn't able to bring it back to health. Hopefully Becker's wonderful roommate will be able to fix it for me when I'm home in 3 weeks, because it is driving me crazy!! I am now in the library typing my blog because I can't get to my blog from my laptop :( It's VERY frustrating.

Amsterdam Pics

So I can't get my link loaded onto my website because my internet at home is lame. So here is the shutterfly link to my Amsterdam pictures instead. Remember it's Amsterdam, so don't judge! Anything goes there!

Hilarious!

Red Bull Air Race

So I was sitting at work yesterday, eating my lunch on the 19th floor, looking out at the river Thames and the 02 center when I saw two little planes doing some maneuvers in the sky. They were doing some pretty tight turns and circles and then all of a sudden one of them did a nose dive right towards the Thames. It was terrifying. I thought I was going to see a plane crash and someone die, but then at the last moment the plane flattened out and Max and I realized that it wasn't doing a nose dive into the river, but was practicing for the Red Bull Air Race (see link)

http://www.redbullairrace.com/

You can see my building in the background! It's the furthest one on the right.

It was really cool watching the planes doing some practice runs through the course.

Slideshow from Brighton

Tanya put together this slideshow from Brighton. Hope you enjoy!

Rodizio Rico, Brighton and The Dark Knight

So this weekend was pretty eventful.

Friday night was spent at a Brazilian restaurant - Ridizio Rico. For 20 pounds you get to eat all the meat that you can in 2 hours. There is a salad bar and then guys come around with meat on skewers and they cut off pieces for you. It was awesome! We got paid on Friday and decided that it was time to splurge. It was well worth it, although we all had to be rolled home because we had eaten too much!

Saturday was 80s and sunny so we decided to head to Brighton, a city on the Southern coast of the UK. It was great to be by the water again! I miss seeing water. I'm use to playing in the water every weekend at a cabin. Brighton also has a pier that has a bunch of arcade games on it. We played some games and then stopped outside a pub and had a few pitchers of beer. It was great to drink beer out in the sun!

Sunday consisted of finishing off my individual and group papers for the last unit. Now I am officially halfway through my MBA! Then Sunday night Tanya, Aaron and I saw the Dark Knight. It was a great movie! And Heath Ledger is terrifying as the joker. If you haven't seen it I suggest seeing it. Aaron and I might go again so we can see it at the IMAX (it was all sold out this weekend).

Some Inspiration

So I've been feeling a little down. Thought I would share an inspirational email that I got a while back.

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.
So love the people who treat you right.
Forget about the ones who don't.
Believe everything happens for a reason.. If you
get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it
changes your life, let it. Nobody said life would be easy,
they just promised it would be worth it.

Half way through London classes!!

Just got done with class, which means that I am officially half way through my MBA classes in London. AWESOME!!! I'm getting that much closer to receiving a piece of paper that says that I'm extra smart!

Uncle Paul was here this weekend. He is on his way to Tanzania and had a couple days layover in London. We went out for dinner, a few pints, and a movie on Saturday night with Tanya and Aaron. We saw Wall-E. I wasn't that impressed :( Thought it was going to be a little cuter.

Other than that it was a pretty normal work week. This coming weekend should be more interesting. Our plans are to go out to a Brazlian restaurant on Friday night. We get paid that day and we (Tanya, Aaron, and I) are deciding to splurge a bit! It's 20 pounds for all you can eat grilled meat. I'll let you know how good it is!! Saturday a few of us are planning on heading down to Brighton. I think it's in Southern England. Don't really know too much about it yet. People have said that is a lovely place. Then on Sunday we are planning on seeing the Dark Knight movie at the IMAX theater. Should be a really good weekend!!

LET EVERYONE KNOW IF YOU CAN SEE THEM.
POLE ON RIGHT ->

Long work week

So again I didn't do much this last week. The work week was REALLY REALLY long and boring. My boss was in New York, so I didn't have that much to do. So the days dragged on and on :( But at least I had time to work on my group project that is due this Sunday. 30 minute presenation EEWWW. Not looking forward to it.

Tanya and I did get to go swimming this weekend though. And we got to see a dog show at one of the parks near our aparment. Now it wasn't exactly a real dog show. One of the competitions was which dog could wag it's tail the most. It was pretty cute!! We also stopped by a festival near our apartment and got to pot some plants. Tanya and I planted leaf salad and spinach. and we were also able to decorate a pot and got to put a cactus in it. And we each got a balloon!!! Mine was green and Tanya's was pink. We were like two little kids!

Jodi

So I called Jodi today and she said that I had to write a blog because every Tuesday when she gets to work she reads it.

Since the only thing that happened this weekend was class (oh yeah and I saw wanted) I have decided to put up a joke that Shadders emailed me today.

A papa mole, a mama mole, and a baby mole all live together in a little
mole hole.

One day, papa mole sticks his head out of the hole, sniffs the air and
says, "Yum! I smell maple syrup!"

The mama mole sticks her head out of the hole, sniffs the air and says,
"Oh, Yum! I smell honey!"

Now the baby mole is trying to stick his head out of the hole to sniff the
air, but can't because the bigger moles are in the way.

This makes him whine, "Geez, all I can smell is .... moleasses!"

Does that work for you Jodi?! So now that I have written a blog for you, you gotta come and visit me in London!!! Love ya <3

66 Days left

66 days left until I am home for a visit! In case you didn't notice there is a countdown to the left. I'm really looking forward to it.

This weekend was nice and relaxing just like I had hoped. Saturday was a beautiful sunny day (not that common in London!), so Candace, Carmen and I decided to have a picnic at the canal that is near our apartment. We had a whole bunch of fruit and nachos. It was wonderful to relax out in the sun with some good food.

Sunday the three of us when to a 11:15am Westminster Abbey church service. The church is beautiful! From there we stopped by a Spanish Festival, but didn't go in because there was a long line and it cost money. Instead we stopped by another market for lunch.

And that was pretty much my weekend! It was wonderfully relaxing! Now I'm getting ready for a long week at work. Month end so we'll be crazy busy getting all the reports ready.

Coolest thing!

So technology is awesome! My phone now has a new add-on. In addition to getting skype each month I can now pay 15 pounds a month and get 3000 minutes of international calls. So I can call landlines and cell phones in the USA for "free" (15 pounds a month). That works out to be around $0.01 a minute! So if you wanna talk to me give my skype in number a call 763-219-1168 and then I'll call you back . . . because I can! Except you Mom. You are not allowed to call me from the cabin at 6:30am! Just because it's 12:30am your time and you're having fun doesn't mean that you need to call me!!

Other than that nothing too interesting has happened. This week was a normal work week. Tanya left about a half hour ago for Stockholm. I have no plans for the weekend. Awesome! Gives me a chance to relax and get some laundry done. Almost everything that I own is dirty!

Amsterdam

Thanks for the b-day wish Pat, Brenda and Maizlyn!!! And thanks to everyone else who wished me a good one. I'm getting old!

So I have survived Amsterdam, or should I say, Amsterdam has survived me!!! Tanya, Candace and I arrived in Amsterdam late Wednesday night. Tanya and I found a great food place (Wok to Walk) and then headed to bed. Thursday and Friday we spent our days wondering around. Checking out shops, cafes, red light district etc. Friday night 3 more Mountbattens joined us (Anna, Nadine, and Ryan). Saturday we went on Mike's Bike Tours. The tour took us through Amsterdam and then out to the countryside. We passed a windmill and stopped at a cheese and clog factory. Mmm cheese! Sunday was the Anne Frank House Museum and then we headed home. We got back to our apartments last night around 1:30am, so needless to say, I'm very tired after little sleep and a long day at work :(

I have class this Wednesday night and then no plans for the weekend. A lot of people are traveling around (stockholm & dublin) so it'll be pretty quiet. A good weekend for me to relax!

Visiting in Sept!

So this last week has been pretty uneventful. We had class Saturday and Sunday. We are officially done with units 1 & 2 and starting on unit 3 - Managing in the Global Economy. The best part about unit 3 is that the prof lets us out early! We were suppose to be in class until 5pm on saturday and 1:30pm on Sunday. We got out at 2:45pm on sat. and 12pm on sun. Awesome!

This week my boss is at the New York office, so I am left unsupervised! He calls me on occassion for a report, but I mostly just putz around. I've used some of my extra time to finish writing a stupid 2,500 word paper on the future of management (pretty much a bunch of bs!) and then I started my 2-3 page paper on outsourcing. I have also used some of the extra time to check out the profiles for the new interns coming in August. I get to choose the ones that I like and then tell Peter to interview them!

Tomorrow I am leaving for Amsterdam! Should be an exciting weekend! And my b-days on Friday, so I get to celebrate with my friends in Amsterdam. Don't worry, I'll be safe.

The most exciting part about my week was that I bought a flight home for a long weekend in September for my friend Amy's wedding on Sept 6th. I will be coming home on Thursday Sept 4th and leaving Monday the 8th. Hopefully I can see as many people as possible! Softball ladies wanna get together at J'Cos on Thursday night? My flight comes in at 5:45pm. I could head there from the airport! Liz, Shadder's and Christi(and I guess you too Tom Thumb Brian) wanna hangout on Friday night or Sunday? Amy's wedding is in St. Cloud. We could either stop by on the way there or on the way back. MJ, Marge, & Bev - lunch on Monday? Hopefully I can see as many of you as I can when I'm visiting!

Hampton Court

Today Tanya, Aaron and I went to Hampton Court. It was a short 30 minute train ride from London Waterloo. It was amazing! The palace was huge and they had great gardens and ponds. here are some google images

http://images.google.com/images?q=hampton%20court&rls=com.microsoft:*:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7SUNA&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi

We went through the Tudor kitchens and the wine cellar and then on to the state rooms. After going through the palace we headed out to the grounds and found a friendly swan in the pond. It came over to say hi to us and we started feeding it some cheese and onion potato chips. The crazy thing was that it would leap out of the water and take the chip right from our fingers. It was a little frightening at first to have a big bird come lunging at you out of the water, but we later realized that it was just going for the chip so our fingers were safe! After hanging out with the birds we headed to the hedge maze. Lots of fun. We made it out! Aaron and Tanya took all the pics. I'll get them online sometime. I do finally have some pics from London on my website. If you wanna check 'em out go to www.geocities.com/sarah_rennweg/LondonPics and click on the London link.

Circle Line Party

The last week of work went by pretty fast. Only four days, so that could be why! Not much really happened during the week.

Oh wait, there is a new bus that goes from Old Street (tube station near by apartment) to Canary Wharf (where I work). I now don't have to take two hot, crowded, and smelly tubes to work everyday. It takes a little longer, so I have to leave my apartment about 10 minutes earlier, but its not crowded at all, I don't have to transfer, and its not hot and smelly. I also get to sit on top of the double decker, in the front, and pretend that I am driving! Because of this I was able to get a refund on my year long tube pass (752.50 pounds back onto my credit card!!! awesome). Now for the bus I'll only be spending 36 pounds a month rather than 80 pounds. Hell yeah!

Saturday I went to see the Sex and the City movie. It was soooo cute! All about love :( made me miss Becker. During the previews of the movie the cutest commercial was played. I found it on YouTube. Check it out:

It made me giggle!

The new mayor of London (Boris Johnson) decided to make drinking on the tube illegal. Starting today, you can get a ticket if you have an open container on the tube. To "celebrate" this new law, the Londoners decided to have a party on the circle line!! It was CRAZY! Of course I had to go and check it out. There were a ton of drunk people crammed into all the trains on the circle line. At one point everyone started to chant, Boris is a wanker and some also sang the British national anthem. It was hilarious! Apparently 17 people got arrested (no, I am not writing this in jail!).

This weekend we had class. It was our last weekend for Units 1 & 2. I am officially done with Unit 2 (finished my paper early) and will be done with Unit 1 shortly (after I finish writing two papers :( ). Only 4 more units to go. Time is flying!
